Nils van Beek is partner and curator at TAAK.
He studied Art History and Archaeology at the University of Amsterdam and for several years at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy. Van Beek worked as a curator for SKOR | Foundation for Art and Public Domain, as coordinator of Sandberg2/Mariakapel in Hoorn and as a theory teacher at the AKV / Sint Joost and the HKU. He published articles in Art Forum International and Metropolis M and was involved in several artists’ initiatives including Agentur, Topos and Lokaal01.
Many of the projects he developed are focused on nature, landscape and rural areas. He gave lectures about his area of expertise in The Netherlands and abroad and was co-curator of the symposium Going Public – Telling it Like it Is Bilbao.
Nils is artistic director of the artist-in-residency KiK in Kolderveen, Drenthe (among others Edwin Stolk and Wouter Jansen), and lectures art theory also attached at Artez Hogeschool in Zwolle since 2016.
At TAAK, he works for an art project for the municipality of Smallingerland / Drachten, at Huize Frankendael (with Edward Clydesdale Thomson), at the Erasmus University Rotterdam (with Kathrin Schlegel), and is involved with the college programs for Cure Park.
